A bitter land dispute between the Gbagyi and Bassa communities in Kudu village, Nasarawa State, turned violent, claiming seven lives and injuring many others. The Bassa group allegedly attacked a Gbagyi settlement meant for farming, igniting the clash.
Witnesses reported widespread destruction, with houses and valuable crops worth millions of naira razed. “These attacks are unbearable,” cried a resident, pleading for urgent government intervention. “We live in constant fear.”
In response, Governor Abdullahi Sule acknowledged the crisis and revealed the government’s recent efforts to address insecurity in the Toto Local Government Area. He emphasized the urgency of the situation, prompting an emergency executive council meeting dedicated to finding solutions.
