The principal of Government Secondary School (GSS), Kuriga, Mallam Idris Abu Sufyan, located in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been tragically killed by bandits. The incident occurred on Friday evening when the principal resisted a kidnapping attempt by the bandits. In the course of the attack, the bandits successfully abducted two women.
Former Kaduna Central Senatorial District lawmaker, Shehu Sani, shared the unfortunate news on Saturday via a post on an unspecified platform. According to Sani, Mallam Sufyan was killed during his brave resistance against the bandits’ attempt to abduct him. The bandits, in the process, abducted two women. Sani expressed condolences, saying, “May his soul rest in peace. Ameen.”
Confirming the incident, Sufyan’s colleague, Aminu Auwal, posted on Facebook, describing Sufyan as a noble and dedicated individual who chose to remain in the village despite constant bandit attacks. Another colleague, Manajer Deeni, highlighted Sufyan’s commitment to his community, teaching youth football, and striving to make a positive impact on the lives of the village youth. Despite the opportunity to leave, Sufyan opted to stay, paying the ultimate price for his dedication as armed bandits invaded his house, fatally shooting him and kidnapping his wife.
The colleagues expressed deep sorrow at the loss of Mallam Idris Abu Sufyan and prayed for his forgiveness and elevation to Aljannatul Firdausi. They also acknowledged his selfless contributions to the community and lamented the tragic outcome of his commitment to staying with his people despite the prevalent security challenges.
