Police foil oil theft in Lagos

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation pipeline in Idimu, Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos was the target of pipeline vandals’ effort to scoop crude oil, according to the Lagos State Police Command on Saturday. According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident happened about 2 am on Saturday when the thugs gained entry to the premises to siphon the PMS into their tanker. When the suspects noticed the guys from the command, he continued, they fled quickly and left their car and equipment behind.

 “The CP, Idowu Owohunwa, at a site in Idimu where oil thieves at about 2 am today gained access to an NNPC pipe, filling their tanker with PMS. The oil thieves absconded, abandoning their truck and tools upon sighting police officers who responded swiftly upon being notified.”Hundeyin, said,
